Greetings fellow earthlings, it's about that time again for another CR update and this time i've not come empty handed.
February has been crazy busy and Community Recordings has a bunch of great music projects in the works for the next few months. Big thanks to everyone for downloading Cowbells For Haiti Vol.1, it is now the third most downloaded CR album to date. And keep in mind this series is just getting started. I have quite a roster of producers lined up for future volumes. I must say though, i'm really impressed with the generosity on behalf of the producers i've spoken to thus far. By the summer we should be well into Vol.3 and starting to see some real money being donated to Haiti. 100% of all the proceeds are being donated to Wycelf Jean's Haiti Foundation, www.yele.org
So let's talk nu-disco for a second. Since coming up with the alias Zoe's Raygun i've been working tirelessly to define its sound. Everyone knows i have a thing for spacey music and it's clearly obvious that i like to infuse that authentic sci-fi feel into Zoe's sound. Science Fiction & The Erotic is a perfect example of this as well as a few other pieces. But just so we are all on the same page, i'm not looking to load up CR's discography with a bunch of spacey disco releases. I still spend alot of time working on latin percussion, and really want to keep Community Recordings as an eclectic label covering a variety of genres. So rather then continuing to release all of Zoe's music on CR i've decided to branch off and create a sub-label called "HotBox" to specialize in the deep-dubby-disco sound.
Debut release is scheduled for end of March:
